Free classes for expectant and new mothers

The Center for Women and Infants at University of Louisville Hospital offers free pregnancy and child care classes to everyone.

When: Please see the schedule below for specific class dates.
Where: Classes are held in the Glass Room, which is in the basement of Ambulatory Care Building (ACB) across the street from University of Louisville Hospital. University of Louisville Hospital is located at 530 S. Jackson Street. Parking is free in the hospital’s garage. Please bring your parking ticket to class for validation.
Registration: There is no fee to take the classes, but registration is encouraged.
How to register: Call The Center for Women and Infants information line at (502) 562-3325 and leave your name, phone number, physician’s name, and due date. You will not receive confirmation if you register by phone. You can can also e-mail your information to katanara@ulh.org.
Tours: Tours of the units are offered during classes. If you can’t make it to class, come to Labor & Delivery on the 3rd floor of University of Louisville Hospital and request a tour (which are available at all times).

2017 Classes

Each series covers a wide variety of topics such as:

  • understanding normal body changes during pregnancy
  • signs of true labor
  • comfort techniques
  • medical procedures
  • vaginal delivery
  • Cesarean delivery
  • Kangaroo Care
  • postpartum care
  • infant nutrition
  • infant massage
  • infant care

Please register for the series that is most convenient for you. Attending a series during your second trimester or after 20 weeks is suggested.

  • Series II on Mondays, 6-8 p.m.: April 24, May 1, May 8, May 15, May 22
  • Series III on Mondays, 6-8 p.m.: Sept. 11, Sept. 18, Sept. 25, Oct. 2, Oct. 9

Blitz classes

  • Saturdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.: March 11, July 8, Nov. 11
